I was going a little snow blind working on the upper right area on the face and that can often happen when you are working in pastel shades.  The best remedy is to take a step back and work on something completely different or switch to a different area of your work.  In this case, I started on the background leaving the trees and shrubs in the distance out of focus.  More work to complete the right side yet.  I also went back to working on Grace’s dress for a bit as well as working on the delicate area where her fine strands of hair stand out amidst the blue sky.  That will be a more challenging area and will probably require some touches of gouache for the very light hairs.  It’s always been such a wonderful journey doing a portrait of one of my grandchildren and I look forward to doing the next one once this one is complete.
